Patagonia Bend vs. Patagonia.com — What's the Difference?

Patagonia Bend vs. Patagonia.com — What's the Difference? We get this question a lot, and it's a fair one. Here's the short version: Patagonia Bend is an independent, locally owned Patagonia partner store — not a corporate-owned Patagonia retail location. We've been part of the Bend community since 2003 (some of you may remember us as Pandora's Backpack). We're Independent When you shop with us, you're supporting a small local business — not a corporate retailer. The same prices, the same gear, but the dollars stay closer to home: funding our local team, supporting Central Oregon nonprofits, and keeping the lights on at a shop that's been here for over 20 years. Key Differences at a Glance Both stores carry the same Patagonia gear at the same MSRP. But there are a few meaningful differences worth knowing: Patagonia Bend is locally owned. We're an independent partner store, not a corporate Patagonia location. No sales tax applies to most U.S. customers — Oregon has no sales tax, and as a single-location business we don't have nexus in other states, so the price you see is the price you pay. We ship from our actual store. Every order from patagoniabend.com goes out from our Bend storefront, not a distribution center — typically within 24 hours. If you have a question about your order, you're calling the shop and we'll pick up. In-store pickup is available. Order on patagoniabend.com and pick up in Bend for free, usually same day. Our staff actually uses this gear. Backcountry skiing on Bachelor, climbing at Smith, hiking the Sisters — we're not reading off a spec sheet. Returns Work Differently Because we're an independent store, returns purchased at Patagonia Bend can't be processed at a corporate Patagonia location, and vice versa. If you bought something from us — in-store or online at patagoniabend.com — your return needs to come back to us. Bachelor, climbing at Smith Rock, and life in Bend. If we don't have something in stock, we can usually order it for you. Patagonia Bend Exclusive Gear We carry a small collection of Patagonia Bend graphic tees and shirts with our own local branding — these are only available through us, not on patagonia.com. Stock is limited and changes seasonally. If you're looking for a specific item or size, reach out and we'll check what we have. Still Have Questions? We're a small team and we actually pick up the phone. 📧 chockstone@patagoniabend.com 📞 (541) 382-6694 — Mon–Sat 10am–7pm, Sun 10am–6pm 🗺️ 1000 NW Wall Street, Bend, Oregon

How Do I Know If a Website Selling Patagonia Products Is Legitimate?

How Do I Know If a Website Selling Patagonia Products Is Legitimate? If you found us by searching for a Patagonia retailer and you're not sure whether a site is real — trust that instinct. A growing number of fraudulent websites scrape product images and copy from legitimate Patagonia sites to create pages that look convincing. These sites are run by scammers who will charge your card and either send nothing, send counterfeit product, or ship something completely unrelated. They won't respond to any attempt to contact them, and your only recourse will be a dispute with your credit card provider. Here's how to verify a site before you buy. Check the URL First patagoniabend.com is what you want if you're shopping with us. For Patagonia's own stores, the only legitimate online storefronts are patagonia.com and wornwear.com. The only authorized dealers permitted to use "patagonia" in their URL are: - patagoniabend.com — that's us - patagoniaburlington.com - patagoniaelements.ca - patagoniahalifax.ca - patagoniaottawa.ca - patagoniaquebec.ca Be especially cautious of any URL pairing "patagonia" with words like "official," "sale," "clearance," or "outlet." Those are common scam patterns. Other Red Flags to Watch For The discount looks too good to be true. Patagonia products are sold at consistent MSRP across all authorized retailers — including us. Deep discounts on "new" Patagonia gear are a reliable sign something is wrong. The contact email is a personal account. Legitimate retailers use corporate email addresses. If the only way to reach a seller is through a Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo address, that's a warning sign. Policies are vague, poorly written, or don't make sense. Scam sites often have shipping and return policies that are either copied sloppily or deliberately confusing. The site isn't on Patagonia's Store Locator. You can verify authorized retailers at patagonia.com/store-locator. When in Doubt, Ask Us If you're not sure whether a site is legitimate before you buy, reach out — we're happy to help you verify it. 📧 chockstone@patagoniabend.com 📞 (541) 382-6694 — Mon–Sat 10am–7pm, Sun 10am–6pm You can also report suspected counterfeit sites directly to Patagonia at takedown@patagonia.com.
